The Washington Park Zoological Society is excited to announce The Firefly Ball!! The event will be hosted at the senior center and will entail a spectacular night of apps, music, dancing, a cash bar, and more for the benefit of the animals of the Washington Park Zoo and their educational outreach programs.
“Most people don’t know that the zoo focuses on being a rescue for exotic animals in need of a safe home,” says Richard Warner, Zoo Society Vice President.
A portion of the Zoo’s residents are misplaced pets or are confiscated since they were illegally owned, and others have suffered injuries that would make life in the wild impossible. These new residents will need a specific diet and a personalized veterinary care plan.
Proceeds from the event will provide funding for acquiring new animals such as the Wallaby, Armadillo, Paca (a cute rodent-like creature) and others. The Zoological Society’s mission is 100% animal care focused and they believe that the new additions will benefit Washington Park Zoo as well as the community.
Adding new animals will also prove a great benefit to the various educational programs offered by the zoo. The Society’s junior board program will start up again April 9th and run for 6 months. We urge anyone interested to contact the Zoo for details regarding joining.
The Firefly Ball will be a 21 and older event with all food will provided by Patrick’s Grille serving specialty “event only” creations such as edible candied Hibiscus & Cheese flowers.
Tickets are available at Patrick’s Grille for just $30 or via eventbrite for $35 available at firefly2019.eventbrite.com
