Shirley Heinze Land Trust will host its annual Spring Benefit on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 5:30 pm, in the James B. Dworkin Center at Purdue Northwest’s Westville campus. The public is invited to participate in the event which will raise funds to support the work of the organization. RSVPs are requested by Friday, May 3, 2018.
Andrew Bowman, President & CEO of the Land Trust Alliance, will be the guest speaker. The Land Trust Alliance is a national organization that works to support land trusts across the country through advocacy, setting standards to ensure public trust, and providing resources such as insurance, training, and education. Based in Washington, D.C., the Alliance represents 1,000 member land trusts supported by over 200,000 volunteers and 4.6 million members nationwide. In 2018, Shirley Heinze Land Trust was the recipient of a National Land Trust Excellence award from the organization.
The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres, followed by an elegant dinner. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in both live and silent auctions. Auction offerings include a Cocktail Party for 20 overlooking Lake Michigan, an America’s Cup Yacht Sailing Trip to San Diego, a Kentucky Bourbon Trail Tasting & Tour, an Adventure Paddle on the Little Calumet River, two Ticket Vouchers to the Indiana Dunes National Park’s Century of Progress Homes Tour, plus much more.
This year’s “Funding the Future” paddle auction will raise funds to help the organization expand and connect natural areas throughout northwestern Indiana, build resiliency, and provide access to these places for all to enjoy.
