Lakefront Career Network Looking to “Share the Love” in February

Matt Weber, LCN Committee Chair
The Lakefront Career Network is looking to “Share the Love” in February in support of Dunebrook with a love-themed week of give-back opportunities.
Lakefront Career Network, which is a young professionals’ chapter of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, selects one local non-profit agency every year as a “Spotlight Organization” and dedicates that calendar year to fundraising, advocacy and awareness of that agency’s mission. In 2021, that Spotlight Organization is Dunebrook.
“While professional development is a key goal, the annual sponsorship and support of a spotlight organization is an extremely important and worthwhile function of the LCN,” said LCN committee chair Matt Weber. “The organization should be a local and deserving business that offers vital services to the community, and Dunebrook fits that criteria perfectly.”
Weber said the “Share the Love” give-back events are an example of how the Lakefront Career Network and Michigan City Chamber aim to support and spread awareness for an organization whose services are invaluable to the community.
To kick off the week, Fannie May (102 West US Highway 20) will host a give-back event on Tuesday, February 9 from 11am to 6pm. For every customer showing a give-back flyer available on the Chamber website, Fannie May will give 30 percent of net proceeds from the sale to Dunebrook.
On Wednesday, February 10, Holly’s Restaurant (3705 Franklin Street) will host a give-back event from 11am to 8pm. Dunebrook will receive 20 percent of sales when a customer presents the coupon available on the Chamber website.
The South Bend Chocolate Café (307 Lighthouse Place) will host a give-back event on Thursday, February 11 from 11am to 6pm with 20 percent of all sales benefitting Dunebrook.
The Boathouse Grill (701 Washington Street) will host a give-back event on Friday, February 12 from 11am to 4pm. For every customer mentioning the flyer available on the Chamber website, Boathouse Grill will donate 20 percent of the sale to Dunebrook.
The “Share the Love” week will conclude with a “Be My Valentine” photo shoot at Uptown Social (907 Franklin Street) from 1pm to 5pm. This free event will offer a Valentine-themed photo with the Michigan City Fire Department mascot in front of the signature red doors at Uptown Social. Also, every child in attendance will receive a Valentine treat.

Jeanne Ann Cannon, Dunebrook Executive Director
“How fun! An easy family, individual and couples event,” said Jeanne Ann Cannon of the final event of “Share the Love” week. Cannon is executive director of Dunebrook, who said, “Nothing like a creative photo op to send to friends and family to brighten their Valentine’s Day.”
Uptown Social will also collect donations of diapers, baby wipes, baby lotion and shampoo for Dunebrook during this event.
