Michigan City Chamber announces Educator Awards
The Michigan City Chamber of Commerce “Educators of the Year” Awards Dinner and Program recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to education in the community.

Chamber President Katie Eaton said nominations were received for Outstanding Educator, Lifetime Achievement and Shining Light, which recognizes an innovative program or class.
“The nominations review committee had many deserving, dedicated teachers and successful programs to choose from”, said Eaton.
The outstanding educators for 2019 are Kim Gondeck (Queen of All Saints Assistant Principal) and Mike Tsugawa (Michigan City High School Japanese teacher).
Don Thompson (St. Paul Lutheran School Social Studies teacher), will be honored with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his many years of outstanding educational leadership and dedication to students.
The Compressed Air Academy at Michigan City High School will be recognized as an innovative program in education with the 2019 Shining Light Award.
