NECA gifts chamber membership to new business startup, JOYRide

Michigan City, IN – August 29, 2023 – As part of their investment with the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce (Chamber), the National Electrical Contractors Association of Northern Indiana (NECA) recently gifted a full-year chamber membership to local entrepreneur Rose Tejeda and her new startup business JOYRide. Matt LaFree, Executive Director of NECA of Northern Indiana, recently met up with Tejeda to learn more about her business, take a JOYRide, and gift the chamber membership to the new business. Starting service this year, JOYRide is known as the coolest way to get from point A to point B in Michigan City. JOYRide’s fleet of battery-operated electric tricycles has a stylish design and affords unobstructed views for its passengers. “Starting a new business can be terrifying. Having the support of the community and businesses like NECA is very encouraging. I am grateful for NECA’s gift, and the support of the Chamber,” stated Tejeda.

The Gift a Membership program is a newer initiative the Chamber began to connect larger businesses with small businesses in the community. Top Chamber investors can select a local minority, woman, or veteran-owned business and provide them with a one-year chamber membership. For smaller businesses, the gifted membership is an opportunity to connect with existing chamber members, businesses, and organizations that will help them grow. NECA, the professional trade association for electrical contracting firms, jumped at the opportunity to support Joy Ride.  “We love what the Chamber does for us and our community. Getting a chance to introduce a new organization to all the benefits and opportunities to see for themselves aligns perfectly with what we do at NECA already. This is a great campaign, and we are grateful to be connected with JOYRide. We are excited about their success and can’t wait to see their tricycles all over town,” stated LaFree.
