Nick Barbknecht is a resident of La Porte who grew up in Michigan City and has a background in business, communications and policy advancement. Nick learned the value of hard work when he moved in with the most generous foster parents you could ever hope to meet. With the help of his church, he put himself through high school working at Sears and went on to graduate early with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Manchester University. He will complete his executive MBA with Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management in May 2016.
Nick currently serves businesses and local officials in Indiana with architecture & engineering solutions at the company RQAW. He previously served the state as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the Indiana Department of Transportation and as Assistant Commissioner for the Indiana Department of Labor.
Nick also serves on the President’s Leadership Council and Alumni Board at Manchester University as well as the Indiana Republican State Committee as Vice-Chairman for the Second Congressional District. He is an active volunteer with several community and civic organizations, a graduate of the Indiana Leadership Forum, a Charter Member of Michigan City Christian Church since 2006 and a past board member of the Lake Region Christian Assembly.
