Born and raised in LaPorte, Kris Pate is currently the Executive Director of the United Way of LaPorte County. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Purdue University and her MBA from Chatham University during her 6-year stint in Pittsburgh. Throughout her career, Kris has worked in mental health, social and employment skill building for persons with disabilities, adult and juvenile criminal justice, educational support, family support, child forensic interviewing, mentoring, and in-home Medicaid waiver programs for the disabled and elderly. Kris loves to bring people together to problem solve community issues. Four years ago, she became the executive director at United Way of LaPorte County where she now works closely with agencies and concerned citizens to build resources and facilitate community problem solving.
Kris and her husband, Richard, have raised three incredible children who have provided her with many “personal growth” and “educational” opportunities. They are now enjoying a seven-year-old grandson who continues their education process.
