Donovan was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. After graduating from Crown Point High School in 2005 he attended Indiana University Bloomington where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Sociology and Athletic Administration respectively. During Donovan’s time in Bloomington he began coaching at Bloomington High School South where he was part of a state championship and the third ranked team in the nation per USA Today.
After graduation, Donovan was named the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Marquette Catholic High School. In 2014, four years after his tenure began, the team won an Indiana High School Basketball State Championship. That same year, he was named Principal at Notre Dame Catholic School. Since his time there, Notre Dame has been recognized as a top 15% nationally ranked school in Reading and Math. He also recently completed a Ph.D. in Education Administration.
Donovan is an active member of the Michigan City Community. He sits as a Mayoral appointment for the Redevelopment Commission and is engaged in various community activities. In his free time, Donovan enjoys woodworking, going to the beach, and golfing. He and his wife Kristina enjoy hosting family and friends at their home. They reside in Sheridan Beach with their new baby girl Harper and dog Yogi.
