Jessica O’Brien was born and raised in Michigan City. After graduating from Michigan City High School in 1999, Jessica attended Purdue University-North Central and graduated in December 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies.

After working for several years with Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home in Chesterton and Portage, Jessica found her way to The News-Dispatch, where she has worked since 2013 as a staff reporter.
Through her job duties, Jessica has become actively involved in the community and local organizations. In addition to being a member of Lakefront Career Network, she also belongs to the Rotary Club of Michigan City and the League of Women Voters of La Porte County. She is a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and volunteers with The Salvation Army of Michigan City.
Jessica and Troy, her husband of 11 years, have recently welcomed into their family a wonderful, beautiful, perfect, amazingly adorable little girl named Scarlett.
In the future, Jessica hopes to continue contributing her talents to help Michigan City maintain its positive momentum, saying, “We have so much to be proud of – especially our public schools, our downtown, and everybody who is helping make Michigan City the best place to live, work, and play!”
